Don’t tell anyone but yesterday I was doing that thing we all do at times, in Scotland we call it earwigging, meaning I was listening in to someone’s conversation.

I know, I’m a nosey SOB, but I couldn’t refrain my hungry little ears.

Condemn me now.

However it’s not often you come across a discussion like this on your travels.

In general you’re met with nonsense, mindless mess with no purpose, just pissed off playbacks of your typical humdrum day.

But this chat had substance, and even though it was short it was very insightful.

I’m glad my sonar detector worked its magic.

Two women discussing their lives, one a doctor and the other a self-labelled family woman.

Sadly I missed the beginning of their exchange but I’ll fill you in on what I witnessed.

Family woman speaking to lady 2: we’ve all got a job to do, a purpose. Yours is medicine, you’re a healer, and that’s what you do, you heal people. Don’t let anything come in the way of that…I’m a mother, a family woman, I’m good at it, and that’s what I love to do, that’s my path, and I won’t let anyone or anything get in the way of that”.

That blew me away.

Spoken with such conviction, with such pride and not even a whiff of uncertainty.

The other lady’s face radiated belief.

And it got me thinking…

I already know my path, it’s to bring perspective to the world, to motivate and spark change, it’s to lead humanity to a better standing.

Hearing that conversation strengthened my purpose and invigorated my quest.

But the question remains.

What is your calling ____?
